I started HEAD TO TAIL CANINE NUTRITION because of my family’s experience with our dog Sadie. As a rescued young pup, Sadie was very sick with kennel cough.
Standard veterinary treatment consisted of two rounds of antibiotics. The antibiotics caused dysbiosis (microbial imbalance) in Sadie creating yeast infections which in turn, caused her to lose some of her coat.
Looking for answers from my Veterinarian was unsuccessful. A friend suggested I add pumpkin to Sadie’s diet. The pumpkin produced almost instant positive results!
And so I thought, “If a tablespoon of pumpkin can make a difference, how much more might fresh food benefit Sadie?”
Next, I fed Sadie samples of raw diets. Sadie loved the food, yet I needed convincing that a raw diet was balanced, containing the right minerals and vitamins.
My vet at the time was against raw feeding. With no guidance in this new direction, I began searching on my own for answers. Extensive research turned up ‘Companion Animal Sciences Institute’ who teach advanced, natural, science-based canine nutrition.
Two and a half years of courses, training, research, and exams, led to even more passion and enthusiasm.
I finally found my calling and I am now an Advanced Certified Canine Nutritionist.
Graduating with Honours in 2015, I created what you now know as Head to Tail Canine Nutrition.
