Donna started Head To Tail Canine Nutrition because of her family’s experience with their dog, Sadie. As a rescued young pup, Sadie was very sick with kennel cough. Standard veterinary treatment involved two rounds of antibiotics, which led to dysbiosis (microbial imbalance) and yeast issues so severe that she began losing patches of her coat.

With no clear answers from her veterinarian, a friend suggested adding pumpkin to Sadie’s meals. The pumpkin produced almost instant positive results! That moment sparked Donna’s curiosity: “f a tablespoon of pumpkin can make a difference, how much more might fresh food benefit Sadie?”

And so began the journey and research into feeding raw. 

What began as a simple question turned into years of research, coursework, and hands‑on learning, deepening her passion and enthusiasm for the Raw Diet. Donna earned her Advanced Certified Canine Nutritionist (ACCN) credential in 2015, graduating with honors from Companion Animal Sciences Institute.

Continuing her commitment to holistic wellness, Donna expanded her expertise by becoming a Certified Companion Animal Iridologist (CCIA). A modality that supports early detection of stress, imbalance, and constitutional tendencies through non‑invasive iris assessment.

Today, Donna combines evidence‑based nutrition, iridology insights, and a deep passion for helping dogs thrive to support pet parents who want to understand their animals at a whole‑body level.
