Iridology Assessment
Iridology Assessment
What is Companion Animal Iridology?
Iridology is a wellness assessment tool that examines the markings, colors, and patterns found in your pet's iris. These markings may provide insights into areas of stress, weakness, or imbalance within the body, helping us identify areas that may benefit from additional support or monitoring.
While iridology is not used to diagnose disease, it can help guide conversations about your pet's overall wellness and identify areas that may warrant further investigation.
Why I Believe in It
Recently, I completed an iridology assessment on my own 10-year-old Papillon, Ruby, before her annual veterinary checkup. I wanted to see if there were any areas that deserved closer attention.
During the assessment, I noticed markings associated with the bladder, kidneys, and liver that suggested these areas might be under stress.
Because of these findings, I asked my veterinarian to investigate further. Testing and X-rays revealed bladder casts and an enlarged liver.
Fortunately, we caught these concerns early, giving us the opportunity to begin supporting Ruby naturally while monitoring her progress. We will be doing a follow-up assessment in three months to compare her iris photos and evaluate any changes.
This experience reinforced for me how valuable iridology can be as an early wellness screening tool.
